The Basics on How To Trade Shares
Shares or stocks, commonly used interchangeably are traded through exchanges. These exchanges either happen in the actual trading floor or virtual. The trading floor is the physical place on where people – brokers and stockholders alike meet to buy or sell shares. This is where the trading actually takes place. This is when you see people in their corporate suits waiving and shouting to bid for a share and finally getting it. This sometimes is referred to as a market. Different dealings happen in trading floors and this is where and how to trade shares are learned firsthand.
The New York Stock Exchange is the most popular among stock exchanges all over the world. Shares trading are done face-to-face on a trading floor which is referred to as a listed exchange. Orders are placed through brokerage firms which are members of the exchange which will flow down to floor brokers. These floor brokers will be the one to go to a spot on the floor and trade these stocks. This spot is known as the trading post. A specialist, a specific person who is responsible for matching buyers and sellers will do his job through an auction method. Usually the current price put up shall be the highest amount which the buyer should be and the lowest price put up shall be that amount which the seller is willing to sell. Once a buyer has bought the share at a price agreed upon, the details of the auction shall then be sent back to the brokerage firm who will validate and notify the investor who placed the order. Trading Shares in this aspect is both human interaction and computers rolled into one.
Another way on how to trade shares is through over the counter market. Nasdaq is the most popular when it comes to share dealings of this kind. Unlike in exchanges where there is a physical venue of Share Trading, this kind of Share Dealing has no central location or floor brokers or floor trading because basically there is no floor to trade on. The trading of shares is done through the interaction of computer and telecommunications network dealers. This is also commonly referred to as internet share dealing. While what are common in exchanges are floor traders or brokers, in this kind of internet dealing, what are common are market makers. These market makers, through this virtual dealing is responsible for providing a continuous bid within such a percentage spread for shares to which they are designated to make a market. They sometimes do the same job with that of a specialist in floor trading because these market makers also do the matching of buyers and seller. The difference is that, they will maintain an inventory of these shares in order to cope with the demands of investors.
Even then you have to choose which of these ways on how to trade shares will fit your purpose and demand. For one, in exchanges, you will more likely need to have a broker which will cost you. In the virtual trading, risks may have it especially when you talk about reports and certificates.

Chapters: Mughal Empire, Republic of Maryland, Albreda, General Screw Steam Shipping Company, Sound Dues, Bank of Baltimore, Seaton Iron Works, Principality of Mingrelia, Saxon Thaler, Prussian Thaler, Hanoverian Thaler, East Red Wing, Minnesota, Mecklenburg Thaler. Excerpt: Albreda is a historic settlement in The Gambia on the north bank of the Gambia River , variously described as a ‘trading post’ or a ‘slave fort’. It is located near Jufureh in the North Bank Division and an arch stands on the beach connecting the two places. As of 2008, it has an estimated population of 1,776. History Albreda todayMusa Gaye, a Wolof marabout , founded it sometime between 1520 and 1681. Wolof traders called the island Draga, while the Mandinkas called it Albadar. In 1681, a local ruler, Niumi Mansa, gave the land to the French because his people depended on trade with Europeans. The French exclave was never very large (never more than one factory) but its location was inconvenient for the British, who otherwise had a monopoly on trade on the Gambia River . The British also possessed Fort James on James Island , which was less than two miles away on the opposite bank, and which fulfilled a similar function. There was constant tension and occasional skirmishes between the two powers, with Fort James changing hands between them several times.Albreda was transferred from French control to the British empire in 1857. Today it contains a slave museum .References (URLs online) Fort James is NOT on the opposite bank of the Gambia River. It is, rather, about two miles southeast of Albreda in the Gambia, which is still very wide at this point. Fort James is much closer to the north bank than it is to the south bank.Websites (URLs online) Coordinates : 13°2004N 16°2312W / 13.33444°N |
