What is meant by a country’s gross fixed investment rate?
I’m doing a research project for my economics class on the economy of Denmark. I have found through the CIA World Factbook that the investment rate is 18.8% of the GDP, ranking it at 107 compared to other countries around the world. Can anyone help me interpret these facts? Is that a good investment rate, etc…
Gross fixed investment refers to investment in fixed capital, tangible capital goods,or depreciation of capital goods. It is usually shown as a ratio between gross fixed capital formation and GDP. Because it will show the confidence of the economy. In the US and Japan,it is very low now, but very high in China. The growth rate of fixed investment about 18.8% of GDP in Denmark is quite good. It means that the confidence is there, and the economy will keep growing.

Equilibrium Exchange Rates $348.89 How successful is PPP, and its extension in the monetary model, as a measure of the equilibrium exchange rate? What are the determinants and dynamics of equilibrium real exchange rates? How can misalignments be measured, and what are their causes? What are the effects of specific policies upon the equilibrium exchange rate? The answers to these questions are important to academic theorists, policymakers, international bankers and investment fund managers. This volume encompasses all of the competing views of equilibrium exchange rate determination, from PPP, through other reduced form models, to the macroeconomic balance approach. This volume is essentially empirical: what do we know about exchange rates? The different econometric and theoretical approaches taken by the various authors in this volume lead to mutually consistent conclusions. This consistency gives us confidence that significant progress has been made in understanding what are the fundamental determinants of exchange rates and what are the forces operating to bring them back in line with the fundamentals. Author: Stein, Jerome L./ MacDonald, Ronald/ Stein, Jerome L. Offshore Investment $119.48 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Offshore investment is the keeping of money in a jurisdiction other than ones country of residence. Offshore jurisdictions are a commonly accepted solution to reducing tax burdens levied in most countries to both large and small scale investors alike. Selected offshore domiciles may serve as havens for tax evasion, money laundering, or to conceal or protect illegally acquired money from law enforcement in the investors country. They also allow legitimate investors to take advantage of higher rates of return or lower rates of tax on that return offered by operating via such domiciles. The advantage to offshore investment is that such operations are both legal and less costly than the solutions offered in the investors country or onshore. Locations favored by investors for low rates of tax are known as offshore financial centers or (sometimes) tax havens. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Determinants of Investment in Transition Economies $101.96 Investment has been found to be a significant determinant of growth. This study analyses the effects of institutions and transition progress on investment rates of transition economies since the collapse of the Socialist Bloc. Political institution is measured by the Freedom Houses Political Rights and Civil Liberties indexes; economic institution is proxied by the Index of Economic Freedom compiled by the Heritage Foundation; and transition progress is documented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Developments transition index. Panel data estimation techniques are applied and the results show that institutions and transition progress have expected and significant effect on investment rates of transition economies. However, it is the progress in all aspects of economic freedom that matters; just some individual economic freedom measures are significant marginally. Besides, as conditioning variables, growth, saving and financial development (liquid liabilities as of GDP) are also found to have significant and positive effect on investment in transition economies. This study highlights the indirect effect of institutions on economic growth via investment. Policies and Private Investment $124.27 There is no shortage of books and studies that regard investment as an important catalyst for accelerated economic development. As a result, developing countries that are ambitious for economic prosperity are strongly encouraged to prioritize investment in their national development strategy. There is often little information on which policies and their magnitude of change that can be most effective in a particular context. Using the Malawian economy, this book provides a timely insight into what fiscal and monetary policies can achieve with respect to a least developed economy. A modified neoclassical model estimated by the linear Generalised Method of Moments and panel data is used to derive important findings on the impact of government consumption, public infrastructure, corporate tax, lending rates and corporate tax on private investment. The analysis provides useful insight into modern investment modeling, econometric estimation techniques, policy results and should be useful to policy makers, professionals and scholars in development related institutions across the world.
